Process
To measure the success of a website you need to first know what it is you want from it, then you have to measure what you actually get from it.
Because of my education in architecture as well as computing I relate web design more to designing a building – where cost, maintainability, materials, colours, functions, services, and aesthetics all have to come together to produce a cohesive whole.
The general process is:
1. DISCOVERY
Define the problem – interviews, brainstorming, discussions, drawing. Find out about you, your customers or users of the website. Define information hierarchy and flows. Key actions, aims.
2. DESIGN
Taking the ideas from stage one forward, we build a set of html templates that can be used to build the site. We start with wireframes and then build out a full design incorporating colours, fonts, graphical elements.
3. BUILD
We select a system that will provide the most benefit for the project – or if it’s a fully unique site we will build our own.
4. DEPLOY
All copy for the site is loaded into the system and the site is deployed – we manage the entire process for you.
5. MANAGE
Ongoing maintenance – all websites hosted with us come with an integrated statistics system as well as other tools to make sure you know how people are using your site, where they are coming from and where they are going.
